The LayDee

LayDee KinMee began her life in the Western suburbs of Sydney. Her camp side shone through at a very early age when she was requesting Cher, Dolly Parton, Kylie Minogue and Madonna records/cassettes for birthday and Christmas presents rather than toys or cartoons like other pre-school children her age.

She enjoyed raiding her “blood mother’s” wardrobe and would often frock up and run around the lounge room lip-synching to her favourite DIVAS.

She dabbled in some stage work soon after leaving high school and played Dianna Ross on a P&O Cruise Ship and a few years later shocked passengers on-board Carnival Cruise Lines with her sexy witch appearance for Halloween.

Whilst on-board Carnival Cruises USA, she became great friends with Holiday Heart and helped her choreograph a number with her backing boys “the Figaro Johns”.

LayDee enjoyed helping put this number together and knew she was at home in doing so and so went out on a shopping spree and maxed her credit cards out on wigs, jewels and frocks, and returned to Sydney determined to make a new career for herself.

Her name just popped magically into her head one sunny day whilst starring over Sydney Harbour from inside a glamorous City Rail Train.

In August 2009 she entered a talent competition at Heaven Social Dance to find a new cast member for “Your Westy Divas”. Much to her shock and surprise, LayDee took out the competition and joined the cast from October til their final performance in December 2011.

Apart from her live performances, LayDee became infamous as a presenter on the ever popular Queer Out West radio programme. Her high pitched shrills were well received and to this day, fans can often be heard trying to imitate some of her well known expressions.

In October 2011, LayDee was offered her residency as hostess at Rio’s Brazilian Restaurant in Parramatta on a Friday and Saturday night, entertaining over 400 diners each evening. LayDee enjoys seeing the look of shock on the un-suspecting diners and enjoys building up a rapport with them and seeing them leave as friends.

LayDee is currently in production for a major touring production show called Drags to Bitches starring some of Sydney’s most elite showgirls including Prada Clutch, Christina Dior, Decoda Secret, Ophelia Shaft, Conchita Grande, Nikita Van-Der-Kamp and Marilyn Mootrub. The 2 hour spectacular will feature some of drags most loved songs as well as tribute to the divas who inspire them. The show is due to begin touring from November 2012.

LayDee is also pleased to announce that an album is on the cards – due for release early 2013. The album will feature some camp country tracks, big diva ballads and of course her ever popular yodels.
